Note:

Pre-requisite test must be completed before enrolling; test dates and times are listed on www.syracuse.recdesk.com. Registration fee will be accepted at the pre-requisite test immediately after completion. Minimum of four participants are required for certification class to run.

All tests will be held at Valley pool from 4:30PM-5:00PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

FEES:
City Resident class fee: $25
Non-City Resident class fee: $75
American Red Cross Certification: $80

*All Registration and Certification fees waived for City residents who work a minimum of 20 hours per week, for the* duration of the summer season.

Accepted Swim Attire for class:
One-piece swimsuits, swim shorts, Swim Shirts, non-absorbent spandex pants. Willing to accommodate for religious needs.

PRE-TEST:
1.) complete a swim- tread-swim sequence: Jump into the water submerge resurface swim 150 yards (using the front crawl breaststroke or a combination of both) maintain position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes by treading water using only the legs then swim 50 yards using the front crawl breaststroke or a combination of both.

2.) Complete a timed event within 1 minute 40 seconds by starting in the water swimming 20 yards surface dive (feet-first or head-first) to a depth of 7 to 12 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point holding the object at the surface with both hands exit the water without using a ladder or steps.
