EMPLOYMENT
Thank you for your interest in employment with the City of
Syracuse Department of Parks & Recreation. The City of Syracuse

full-time and part-time staff.
FULL-TIME EMPLOYMENT
Most full-time positions are filled through examinations offered by the New
York State Department of Civil Service when job openings become available. The
Parks Department hires titles such as Recreation Directors, Leaders &
Supervisors, Aquatic Directors & Supervisors, etc.
Some exams are given annually, others every three to four years, while still

SEASONAL EMPLOYMENT
The City of Syracuse Parks & Recreation Department Divides its seasonal
employment opportunities into two seasons, summer and school year. Actual dates
of employment vary during each season depending upon specific program needs.
Applicants are hired on a seasonal basis, meaning employment is officially
