The Clinton Square Ice Rink is currently Closed due to rain / ice conditions
INCLEMENT WINTER WEATHER POLICY
If the Syracuse City School District closes due to
weather:
All programs and classes at community centers are cancelled. This
includes Bob Cecile Senior Center, Burnet Arts & Crafts Center, and
Community Centers at Kirk Park, McChesney Park, Schiller Park,
Westmoreland Park, and Wilson Park. Staff
will report unless otherwise instructed. Huntington Pool will be closed.
Staff will report unless otherwise instructed. All programming, meetings, events, and building rentals
are canceled. Ice rinks may remain open. This includes Clinton
Square, John Dunn (Meachem) and Sunnycrest rinks. Permitted programming is at the
discretion of the permit holder at this time. However, sites may close
based on ice conditions, weather conditions and the status of snow
removal.In accordance with the New York State Public High
School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA), if the wind
chill feels like -11 degrees or lower, we will suspend, delay or
cancel outside activity.The main office will remain open.
If the Syracuse City School District is delayed due to
weather:
Facilities and programs will proceed with normal
operations based on ice conditions, weather conditions and the status of
snow removal. Determinations will be made and posted as soon as possible,
although we can’t guarantee the decision will be posted by 6:30 a.m. lap
swim sessions, we will make every effort to do so.If the Syracuse City School District’s after school
activities are cancelled due to weather:
All classes, sports activities, field trips, leagues
and instructional programs, meetings, events, and facility rentals are
cancelled.The facilities will remain open. However, sites may
close early based on weather conditions and the status of snow removal. The ice rinks will remain open. This includes Clinton
Square, John Dunn (Meachem) and Sunnycrest rinks. Permitted programming is at the
discretion of the permit holder at this time. However, sites may close

District is not in session:
If weather conditions and forecast warrant, a decision
to cancel activities will be made and posted by 8 a.m. In some
cases, the decision may be made and posted on the night prior. If
weather conditions or snow removal efforts are likely to change throughout
the day, the decision to close may be for morning programming only. A
subsequent decision about afternoon and evening programing, events and
facility closures will be made by 9 a.m. (for afternoon programs) and 3
p.m. (for evening programs).Notifications to the Public:
This information will be placed on our cancellation
page on syracuse.recdesk.com and posted on the department’s Facebook
page. The information will also be posted at each site on the
doors, when possible.Please note: The Syracuse Department of Parks, Recreation
and Youth Programs reserves the right to make decisions that may be
inconsistent with this policy based on unforeseen circumstances.
